The Study Abroad program at our biological station offers a range of experiential learning opportunities for all those interested in wildlife monitoring, rainforest ecology, avian research, biodiversity and nature conservation.

Internships
Duration: from 4 weeks up to 6 months
Costs: starting at 250 US $ per week
During this biological internship students will participate in tropical ecology research and conservation activities in the reserve. Interns help collecting data for various research projects and will thereby gain theoretical and practical knowledge in tropical ecology and obtain hands-on research skills. The participation in our reforestation or forest school project directly supports our conservation efforts.
Duration: from 2 to 6 months
Costs: starting at 275 US $ per week
Aspiring biologists, ecologists or students of related fields are welcome to conduct a research traineeship at the biological station Un poco del Chocó. Whilst investigating their own research project students gain an understanding of scientific investigation methodology and thus will be prepared for future academic studies.
Courses
Duration: 10 course days
Course fee: 1250 US $
During this course on bird banding participants will gain theoretical knowledge and practical skills in tropical bird biology and avian monitoring techniques. Whilst participating in the study of the bird communities in the nature reserve and its surroundings, students will learn the basics of using mistnets and banding birds.

This course on tropical ecology & conservation introduces the ecology, biodiversity and conservation of tropical ecosystems both in theoretical lectures and practical modules.
Two days of the course will be held in Mindo and will treat the conservation aspect in more detail.
