Environmental Education Workshop

In May we organized our first environmental education event. Sally, our South African intern had worked out a program for a day and we invited some kids from the small village Las Tolas. Nine boys and girls, between 9 and 13 years old, visited the station and the reserve for a Saturday. The kids draw a picture of a rainforest with its different animals and plants, we played a game with a rope showing the diverse connections between the different organisms in the forest, the kids explored the forest and collected small insects which they studied with the sterescope afterwards. Sally’s evaluation sheets showed us that most of the kids learned a lot about the connections between organisms and the importance to protect the forest.
